Abstract
Freedom Furniture was challenged to acquire well-trained QA resources internally for their IBM Order Management Solution and so they worked with Perfaware to provide a team that could establish all of the QA tasks needed to facilitate the mandatory User Acceptance Testing (UAT) from an end-to-end perspective during the roll-out process. They would then leverage the Perfaware team to facilitate the knowledge transfer so that Freedom Furniture resources could take over the QA tasks post the go live and moving forward from that point.
Overview
IBM OMS and End-to-end Quality Assurance Test Execution support for Freedom. Furniture’s Omni-channel commerce initiatives planned for 2022 spanning IBM Sterling OMS Suite, IBM Call Center & IBM Sterling Store. The ad hoc OMS Functional QA services were provided for a 12-month period. This effort marked a shift in the relationship between Freedom Furniture and Perfaware with the intention being that Perfaware develops into a fully independent service provider for testing-related services to Freedom.

Opportunities
The major outcomes from this effort were:
- Increased Perfaware independence during the period of this engagement to near full autonomy.
- Freedom worked with Perfaware to find a ‘lean’ method with which business knowledge can be shared in order that Perfaware can independently review testing scope and requirements.
- Increased engagement of Perfaware with products and software outside their traditional domain of OMS. This included the Infinity POS, Boomi, Splunk, and e-Commerce platforms.
- Charged Perfaware with establishing automation testing tools to reduce the ongoing overhead of repetitive and relatively costly manually-initiated testing. This was vital for the upcoming months when it was expected there would be a substantial testing workload.
- Access to a larger ‘pool’ of Perfaware testing resources should the need arise to increase Perfaware testing capacity with appropriate notice.
Business Challenge
- The Perfaware team needed to learn a number of solutions outside of the standard OMS footprint to include Infinity POS, and Splunk.
- The Perfaware team had to build proficiencies in a new middleware platform based on BOOMI technology.
- The Perfaware team needed to incorporate in the end-to-end testing harnesses eCommerce interfaces
